AlgorithmWatch welcomes Anna Kraher, Monica Phương Thúy Nguyễn, John Albert and Josephine Hüetlin to the team.
Anna Kraher
Anna Kraher is a student assistant at AlgorithmWatch for public relations and outreach. She is currently in the Master’s program of Design & Computation at the College of Fine Arts and the Technical University of Berlin and has a Bachelor in Computer Science and Gender Studies. At the Humboldt University of Berlin, she works at the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies, where she has been part of the Gendering STEM digital project. In her work, she focuses on the interrelationships between technology and society, especially regarding discrimination and AI.
Monica Phương Thúy Nguyễn
Monica is a student assistant for the reporting platform Unding.
After working for Terre des Femmes, SOS Méditeranée, International Rescue Commitee and LobbyControl, she joined Algorithmwatch in September 2021.
Her current work focuses on the impact of automated decisions and discrimination through algorithms.
She has a B.A. in Information Science and is in the process of completing her M.A. in Gender & Queer Studies. Parallel to her work at AlgorithmWatch, she is a referee in the Autonomous BIPoC Unit at the University of Cologne to negotiate intersectional perspectives at university level. When time allows, she also likes to engage with different creative actions of political resistance.
John Albert
John Albert is a Policy and Advocacy Manager at AlgorithmWatch. He holds master’s degrees in Public Policy from the Hertie School in Berlin and Journalism from Columbia University in New York. Prior to joining AlgorithmWatch, he worked on projects around platform regulation and algorithmic management in the workplace. He is also an experienced visual journalist, having produced local news stories, branded content, and documentary films before turning his eye to digital governance.
Josephine Hüetlin
Josephine is a reporter and editor at AlgorithmWatch. Prior to that she has worked as a paralegal and journalist in Berlin, Bristol and Mytilene. Her work has been published in in outlets including The Daily Beast, Coda Story, The New Republic, Gizmodo, Popula, Slate and Quartz. She has a law degree from BPP University and a bachelors degree in Philosophy from Cambridge University.
