Kilian is our team lead for Policy & Advocacy. His research and advocacy work focuses on the use of algorithmic decision-making in the public sector and on the sustainability of AI. Before joining AlgorithmWatch, Kilian worked on the topic digital rights and surveillance at the think tank Stiftung Neue Verantwortung, in particular on the rights-based regulation of government access to data and effective intelligence oversight. Previous to that, he had been a researcher at the Centre for Internet and Human Rights and a consultant for political communication and organizing. He holds a dual master's degree in Political Science and European Affairs from Free University Berlin and Sciences Po Paris.
