What can I do here?

Take part in our survey to help us understand what problems come with Lieferando’s app and algorithms. By doing so, you help us – the union NGG and AlgorithmWatch – to fight for your rights as a rider. It only takes 3 to 5 minutes!

It's easy to participate

The survey is available in three languages and takes only 3 to 5 minutes to complete. Take part!

Why your voice matters

Lieferando riders get instructions on their phones, with an algorithm deciding on shifts, deliveries, and even bonuses. Only Lieferando knows how these decisions are made – how the algorithm works is kept a secret. This makes it difficult or even impossible for drivers to stand up for their rights. This survey is designed to collect riders' experiences and shed more light on Lieferando's opaque algorithms.

Algorithmic management should be transparent by default. Some attempts to regulate companies have been made. The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) bans automated decision-making & robo-firing. And just last week, EU member states agreed on the Plattform Work Directive (against the votes of Germany and France), a law that should help make algorithmic management more transparent.

BUT: It doesn’t really make a difference to the couriers, cleaners, and click workers in the so-called gig economy.

We need your insights to push forward the regulation of platform work and need to know the problems drivers face every day.

Who are we?

This survey is a joint project by AlgorithmWatch and the Food, Beverage, and Restaurant Union (Gewerkschaft Nahrung-Genuss-Gaststätten, NGG).

The NGG is the oldest trade union in Germany. With 51 offices throughout Germany, the NGG fights for fair working conditions.

At AlgorithmWatch, we are committed to ensuring that digital technologies, especially algorithms and AI, benefit not only a handful of large companies but all people.

With this survey and our knowledge of the topic of "algorithms", we support the NGG in their campaign "Liefern am Limit (Delivering at the limit)". Together we fight for Lieferando drivers' rights.

What happens to the results?

We will evaluate your results and keep you posted on the next steps.
